Dr. Syed A. Waheed

Syed A. Waheed has been teaching in the Department of Education at University of Education, Okara Campus since November 2005 and joined University of Okara (UO) since its establishment on first of April 2016. He returned to Pakistan in May 2017 after successfully completing his PhD in Education from University of Vienna- founded in 1365 and one of the oldest universities in the German-speaking world and Europe. His PhD was funded by Higher Education Commission (HEC) through a country-wide competitive Overseas Scholarship award. Since joining of the first vice chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zakaria Zakar, he got an opportunity to contribute in building the image of University at international forum. He has been engaged to establish academic linkages and international collaborations to uplift the international character of UO. The External linkages is university’s frontline arm that serves to expand partnership with the national and international organizations in order to initiate and strengthen cooperation and collaborations for uplifting institutional standards in the domain of teaching, learning, research and administration. In addition to his duties as Director of External Linkages, he has been contributing in different academic, administrative and professional areas within and outside of the university. He is HEC approved PhD supervisor and currently supervising PhD and MPhil student dissertations and has already supervised more than 35 masters theses. He is interested in exploring innovative phenomena qualitatively in the field of higher education, doctoral studies and other allied fields of interest. He is a reviewer of national and international research journals in the broader discipline of education. He has reviewed a number of MPhil theses of the students from other universities of Pakistan. Also, he had been correspondent of the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and writes column on educational affairs in different national newspapers of the country. Waheed has visited a number of countries including Austria, Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia. He has passed B1 level of German language and qualified IELTS with an overall score of 7. He believes in bringing change in the society through promoting higher education access to the youth of the country and generating innovative ideas that may enable them to think 'differently and positively' to create a world of human respect and dignity.
